Split Bengal Gram Rice Pilaf Recipe

Split Bengal Gram Rice is a dish that is not only easy to prepare, but also consumes less of your time spent in Kitchen. Bengal Gram is a pulse that is invariably a part of several Indian cuisines. It can be devoured in a variety of ways: boiling and tempering in oil; cooking it with rice to make 'pulao', or less commonly, as a salad. In this lens, I am going to tell how to make a Split Bengal Gram Rice Pulao in some easy and quick steps. It tastes delicious and smells good. For me, making it is as fun as eating it. I love taking it with curd.
Half Bowl of Bengal Gram
A bowl of rice
An onion
A few cumin seeds
Salt to taste
Half a ladle vegetable or cooking oil
Water for boiling
Half a tsp red chili powder
   Wash rice thoroughly, remove water and keep them aside. 
Wash split Bengal gram and transfer it to a pressure cooker.
Add a glass of water and half a tsp salt to it.
Boil the pulse for about 7-10 minutes, After first whistle, lower the flame.
By this time, it would become soft but would be still not cooked complete;y.
Pour out the contents into a separate bowl. Do not throw water. It will be used in making rice.
Chop onion.
Heat some oil in pressure cooker.
As it starts sizzling, add chopped onion and the cumin seeds. Let them saute for 2-3 minutes.
As they become soft, add red chili powder. Mix well
Now add boiled gram along with water in which it was cooked.
Add washed rice.
Add salt as per your taste.
Mix Well.
Cover cooker with its lid.
Wait for the first whistle and then turn the burner to low position.
Close burner after 10-15 minutes.

Serve with curd.
